Field writers
Five people who keep going back to the same hills, each with a different reason.

Arjun Pillai
Arjun grew up in Kottayam and has kept a bird list since a school trip to Thattekad. He writes the birding and butterfly pieces, mostly about learning to see the common species properly before chasing rare ones.

Sneha Kurien
Sneha plans trips the slow way, with bus timetables, rain forecasts and too many homestay messages. She writes about seasons, getting around the hills and travelling with family.

Biju Abraham
Biju spent his childhood between Kumily and the cardamom estates further up the ridge. He writes about spice and tea country, hill towns, food and the people who live at the forest edge.

Thara Joseph
Thara reads field studies for pleasure and turns them into plain explanations. She writes about wildlife, forests, rivers and what published research says about the southern Western Ghats.

Rohan Varghese
Rohan photographs forests and the animals in them as a long-running hobby. He writes about cameras in humid weather, packing, ethical viewing and keeping notes in the field.
